Chromosomal Mechanisms in Animal Reproduction

Pages 1-23 | Published online: 14 Sep 2009

Abstract

The evolution of genetic systems from the molecular level up to that of reproductive mechanisms is discussed and previous views are criticized. The variables of the meiotic process are examined with special regard to cytoplasmic phenomena.

Speciation and evolutionary perspectives of a taxon are considered in relation to caryological modifications and different modes of reproduction: thelytoky, hybridogenesis. heterogony, haplodiploidy (eds.).
