The interface compartment in arbuscular mycorrhizae: A special type of plant cell wall?

Pages 8-15 | Published online: 21 Feb 2007

Abstract

The aim of this mini-review is to summarize current knowledge concerning cell wall modifications and cell wall-related genes during the colonization of root cells by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. Particular attention is given to the structure of the interface compartment in AM infected cells on the basis of in situ, molecular and biochemical investigations.
