ABSTRACT

Based on classification and ordination of vegetational data recorded on the Roman amphitheater of Italica (S. Spain), the compositional variation of lichen communities is related to the main ecological parameters: type of substratum, solar irradiation and eutrophication. The data were further processed by a program of automatic mapping, to produce a model showing the main patterns of lichen-induced chromatic changes within the amphitheater.
