Summary
The structure of the root, the stem and the leaf of Guizotia abyssinica Cass. is described.
The structure of the young stem, in which a continuous procambium ring is present, has been focussed and discussed at the light of modern literature. From this procambium ring a subcontinuous circle of primary bundles and successively an early secundary wood ring develops (first type of Kostytschew).
The leaf structure has been investigated as regarding to the number of stomata per sq. mm. and stomatal index. By these numbers it appears that Guizotia, although it lives in tropical countries, is much like some mesophylous herbaceous plants, studied by Salisbury.
