Abstract
The Author studies the vegetative growth of one specimen of Olive tree at Camerino (Marche) m. 670 high on s. 1.
The growth period begins in June-July, prosecuting in Summer untill Novembre, without a true summer rest period, wich is characteristic for the Olive tree in the mediterranean basin (Puglia).
During this period the cambium differentiates three portions of wood. One from June to the end of July, with normally differentiated elements, one from August to September which is an anomalous tissue, formed by cambiform elements, not completely differentiated into tracheae, fibers and parenchima; the last portion formed in autumn is the most highly differentiated and the most aboundant one.
The particular behaviour of the cambium activity of the Olive tree in Camerino is put in relation with the climatic factors, unfavorable to this mediterranean trèe.
