Sul meccanismo di azione antimitotica della colchicina

Abstract

ON THE MECHANISM OF ACTION OF COLCHICINE ON MITOSIS. — The effect of colchicine on glutathione has been studied in order to explain its effect on mitosis. The results are consistent with the hypothesis that colchicine or its derivatives (colcemide) exert their antimitotic action by reversible oxidation of thiolic proteins present in the cell. This hypothesis could also explain the lack of antimitotic action of thiocol-chisode.
