Abstract
This talk briefly describes the different modes of sexuality in flowering plants (hermaphroditism, monoecy, dioecy), and the control of hermaphroditic flower development by a small set of interacting genes. The problem is stated of the necessity of an additional control in unisexual flower development. Genetic control of sex determination in dioecious species is then considered.
