ABSTRACT

Crystallization behaviors of amorphous calcium carbonate synthesized in various solvents were investigated. In case of H2O solvent, so rapid crystallize due to the high dielectric constant of the solvent that amorphous phase can't be obtained. While in case of alcohol solvents which have low dielectric constant, amorphous calcium carbonate was obtained at the initial stage but it was transferred to vaterite and calcite crystal phases over the time. Crystallization progress of 2-propyl alcohol compared to 1-propyl alcohol was slow because the molecular polarizability is lower than that of 1-propyl alcohol. Result of surface modification for stabilize the surface of amorphous calcium carbonate with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, it could be maintained stable amorphous phase in atmosphere.
