Decision Support Systems: Past, Present and Prospects

ABSTRACT

The opening address from the IFORS SPC 1 conference on Decision Support Systems (DSS) attempts to provide a perspective on the DSS movement, and reviews the current state of DSS development through an analysis of the abstracts submitted for presentation at the conference. The presentation concludes with a number of challenges where progress is required if the DSS movement is to continue to prosper to the point where it will have a real and significant impact on the practice of management.

RÉSUMÉ

Le premier discours du congrès IFORS SPC I dresse un panorama du mouvement “DSS” et évalue l'état actuel de la technique par l'analyse des résumés des articles soumis au congrès. Le discours conclut sur les quelques défis qui restent à relever pour que le mouvement DSS atteigne réellement à un impact significatif sur la pratique du management.
