Les palmiers de Guyane française

Abstract

Number of species per genus, distribution patterns and habitats of Guianan palms are briefly exposed. Species diversity is discussed, following the classification of Uhl and Dransfield (1987): number of genera and species per tribe, distribution in French Guiana, relative abundance, characteristics and description of the habit of the most striking species. Lastly, the 67 species known from French Guiana, as well as the most common vernacular names are listed.

Résumé

Le nombre d'espèces par genre ainsi que les aires de répartition et les habitats des palmier guyanais sont brièvement exposés. La diversité spécifique est discutée suivant la classification de Uhi et Dransfield (1987): nombre de genres et d'espèces par tribu, répartition en Guyane, abondance relative, caractéristiques et description des espèces les plus remarquables. Enfin, les 67 espèces connues de Guyane ainsi que les noms vernaculaires les plus répandus sont donnés en annexe.
