Abstract

The free sugar contents of the barks—soluble extracts of two Moroccan varieties of Pinus pinaster were determined. The soluble extracts account are 12.7 and 21.4% respectively at Pinus pinaster var. atlantica and Pinus pinaster var. moghrebiana. Their sugar contents are estimated to 2.3 and 5.3% with same order. Analyses of free reducer sugars of these extracts were carried out by GC/MS. Seven sugars with their isomers such as glucose, arabinose, fructose, sorbose, galactose, arabinofuranose and arabinopyranose were identified.
