Abstract

Tilia's inflorescence includes a bract which is fused with the base of peduncle. Histology technic was used to investigate Tilia bract. Our studies allow us to see that the vascular system of bract is similar to the vascular system of stem, moreover the lamina part of the bract does not show a adaxial palisade mesophyll; only a spongy mesophyll is present. With a vascular system of stem and in the absence of palisade tissue, we suggest Tilia bract is a cladode structure.
