ABSTRACT
The objective of this paper is to provide a state-of-the-art of the application of Shape Memory Alloys as Smart Materials to seismic protection. An attempt to a less specialized presentation has been done. A simple constitutive model for SMAs is reported. Advantages and disadvantages of alloys and devices are evaluated, followed by a discussion on possible future applications
