SUMMARY

Phenol biodegradative activity of four moulds and one actinomycete strain was investigated at the presence of glucose, and succinate, and yeast extract. The biomass obtained as a result of the use of these cosubstrates influed favorably the phenol biodegradation. The glucose concentration efficacy on the phenol detoxication activity of the mould strains was investigated. Phenol 2- monooxygenase, Cathechol 1,2-dioxygenase, Cathechol 2,3-dioxygenase activities of the key enzymes in the open aromatic link were studied. The ecological value of the investigated moulds and actinomycetes in the detoxication process of the chemical polluated soils and water sources has been evaluated.
