Pages 41-43 | Published online: 15 Apr 2014

ABSTRACT

Hippeastrum mosaic virus (HMV) is wide spread and one of the most damaging viruses for bulbous flowers of Amarillidaceae. Its isolation and identification from the Hippeastrum varieties cultivated in Bulgaria are the object of investigation. For the purposes of our study samples from 6 cultivars with visible symptoms for virus infection are used. The isolations are made on 12 species of indicator plants. The identification of isolates is done on basis of test plants reaction, electron and immunoelectron microscopy of virus particles. The results obtained from our investigations prove that hippeastrum isolates are of HMV.
