Comparative Research on Determination of Islet Cell Autoantibodies (ICA) by Diabetes Mellitus by Means of Elisa-Kit “Isletest™—ICA” and Indirect Immunofluorescent Test

Pages 82-84 | Published online: 15 Apr 2014

ABSTRACT

Seven groups patients have been investigated (with I-st and Il-nd type diabetes, their relatives of first degree of relationship, persons with disturbed glucose tolerance and healthy controls). Serums have been tested by two tests: ELISA—kit “Isletest™—ICA” (investigated 85 patients) and indirect immunofluorescent test (investigated 118 patients). The frequencies of ICA-positivity in the separate groups, obtained by the two methods, essentially distinguished between each other (only in 6.3% of all cases is observed correlation for ICA-positivity between the two methods). The concrete ELISA-method does not show any priority compared to the indirect immunofluorescent test.
