ABSTRACT
Resistance to six PVY isolates and PVV in single and mixed (PVY+PVV) infection was examined in R3 progeny plants of two commercial tobacco cultivars (Rila89 and Nevrocop 1146) expressing the coat protein gene of PVYn strain. Both cultivars are widely grown in Bulgaria and PVY control on these cultivars is very important for tobacco industry. The resistance to PVY and PVV in single and mix infections was effective in number of transgenic lines, both in greenhouse experiments and under natural conditions.
