The Model of Ecologo-Genetical Organization of Complex Quantitative Traits for Productivity, Resistance, and Quality in Plants

ABSTRACT

The ecologo-genetical model of the organization of quantitative traits (1) is presented on the background of the currently employed in the breeding process models of Mendel, and the polygene model. On the base of two recent discoveries: “The phenomenon of redetermination of genetic organisation of the quantitative traits” (2); and “Multi-directional displacements of a quantitative trait of an individual organism under the influence of genetic and environmental effects in the two-dimensional coordinated system of characters” (3), new prospects for development of genetic inventory of the germplasm, and identification of the genotype by its phenotype at early stages of the breeding process had emerged. The attention is being attracted into breeding for seven physiological-genetic systems, instead of breeding for traits.
