ABSTRACT

The variability of storage proteins is determined by their specific function and the level of conservation at the level of disulfide bonds, which means that the rest of the protein sequence may show variability, which can be used in studies of genetic polymorphism and homogeneity of sunflower accessions. Thus, the goal of this study was to search for biochemical polymorphism of several sunflower hybrids and their parental lines using elaborated method of isolating helianthinin from individual seed. There was concluded that helianthinin exhibits conservation at the level of A and B subunits, coded by Hel A and Hel B genes, but C subunit, determined by Hel C gene, showed genotype dependent variability. Significant variations of polypeptide composition were shown only for paternal line of Valentino hybrid.
