ABSTRACT

The main aim of the present investigation was to establish the genetical polymorphisms of sphaerococcum mutant forms in hexaploid wheat and their control forms using esterases as biochemical and molecular markers. Isoelectric focusing revealed the presence of 9–15 isoforms. The mutant forms 49 aest, 49 sph, MT 47K, MT 47 sph, 6512 aest and 613 sph showed similar isoenzyme patterns with minor changes‥ By contrast, the electrophoretic pattern of sphaerococcum mutant forms 613 and 6512 is very different in comparison with control forms. In these mutant forms there is a loss of one band and three other bands are present. This interesting pattern was observed only in these sphaerococcum mutant forms.
