Abstract
In this set of practice notes there are two contributions from the field. We commonly encounter some enthusiasm from practitioners about contributing to practice notes. Few however factor doing such things into the process of managing their time. All allocate time for relating to clients and most seem to manage the case notes that go with that task. Most complain about doing their statistics and fulfilling agency accountability requirements. Quite a few manage to present conference papers but rarely is the broader dissemination of information about practice events, encounters, and ideas factored in to work loads. We would like that to change and by providing the opportunity to write short pieces for this journal the opportunity is offered. Mark has contributed a reflective piece about finding a position between colluding and colliding in a vivid family encounter. Marlene shares some thoughts about the out–of–home care system which tries to carry the burden left when family functioning fails. Future contributions would be welcome from practitioners dealing with families in any of the many forms of advocating, helping, facilitating, and empowering services.
