Export expansion, economic growth and causality in China

Pages 105-107 | Published online: 16 Aug 2006

Abstract

This paper examines the causality between export expansion and economic growth in China using data covering the period from 1979 to 2001. A model allowing for different orders of integration reveals that they are cointegrated. The results of the error correction model show a bi-directional causality between them, supporting previous findings.

For an application of Pesaran and Shin's (Citation1999) cointegration test to China's determination of export, see Chou (Citation2000).
