Who cut the cheese?

Pages 7-10 | Published online: 01 Jun 2010

Abstract

In this article I examine whether retail and producer prices for American processed cheese follow a long-run linear relationship. The results suggest that wholesale and retail prices are not cointegrated, even when allowance is made for nonlinear and threshold effects, suggesting little evidence of pass-through of costs to the retail level.

Notes

1The FDA sets the specific requirements for cheese and related products – see USA (Citation2008).
