Evaluation of Higher Education in Germany

Abstract

The article summarises the current situation in relation to evaluation of higher education in Germany. It outlines the history over the past thirty years, and the main conflicts and problems. The position of significant German institutions in regard to teaching evaluation is outlined. Finally, a personal judgement of the development of evaluation at German universities is given.
