Jennie Dey de Pryck was initially known for her doctoral work in The Gambia (and related publications) on women in rice farming systems in the late 1970s before expanding into work on food security strategies, rural employment, rural poverty, and gender issues for the UK government, FAO, ILO, and IRRI. She then worked as an FAO staff member for twenty-two years, serving as Chief, People's Participation and Rural Institutions Service for the last twelve years.
