Abstract
Ligamentous injury to the wrist can produce symptoms suggestive of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The complex inter-relationships of the carpal bones allowing for this phenomenon are reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of diagnostic ultrasonography over other imaging studies and its applicability in ligamentous injury are discussed. A case study is presented. Diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasonography provides the clinician with a valuable tool in the evaluation and treatment of ligamentous injury.
