Summary
This paper reports the clinical audit of a musculoskeletal medicine clinic which uses a broad spectrum of physical medicine techniques (with an osteopathic base) in combination with injections, exercises and exercise. The results indicate that the patients and general practitioners (GPs) were well satisfied with current therapies offered. Over the year 1993/4 the clinic saved an estimated 180 appointments for the orthopaedic and physiotherapy departments. There is an indication that there are particular clinical/cost benefits in providing an outpatient service of caudal epidurals and sclerosant (proliferant) injections.
