A Case of Osteitis Pubis Secondary to Unilateral Sacroiliac Joint Instability Treated with Prolotherapy

Pages 10-13 | Published online: 07 Jul 2016

Abstract

A 34 year old athletic male presented with recurrent left perineal pain of two years duration which was preventing his continued participation in sporting activities. MRI scan confirmed osteitis pubis but following an unsuccessful trial of prolonged, standard conservative management including symphyseal injection, attention was drawn to left sacroiliac joint instability as the source of the problem. The patient underwent a course of prolotherapy to the left posterior and interosseus sacroiliac ligaments with an excellent outcome.
