Abstract
In a single-blind, randomised study, 80 patients with acute or subacute sciatic pain (without disc involvement) were treated pragmatically with various manual techniques. One group received vertebral manipulation in addition to the other manual techniques. The results showed a trend to quicker and more marked reduction of pain, stiffness and restriction of daily activities. 97.3% of the manipulation group rated the treatment effective, compared to 82.8% in the control group
