The inspiration for this special issue comes from a conference of the same title, organised by Elisa Segnini with the support of the Canadian Social Sciences and the Humanities Research Council, and held at University of British Columbia in Vancouver (31st of March – 2nd of April 2016), and from the discussions originated on the occasion of the Ferrante Fever event held at the University of Leeds on the 13th of October 2016, led by Olivia Santovetti and co-organised by Gigliola Sulis.

Elisa Segnini is a lecturer in Italian at the University of Glasgow, UK. Her research interests include the translation, circulation and international reception of Italian fiction and the poetics and politics of multilingual texts.

Gigliola Sulis

Gigliola Sulis is associate professor of Italian at the University of Leeds, UK. Her research focuses on the Italian multilingual novel, regional and dialect literatures, women’s writing, and the language and style of 20th and 21st-century writers.
