A DIAGNOSTIC BRANCHING SYSTEM FOR REMEDIAL TRAINING IN THE MANIPULATION OF VULGAR FRACTIONS

Pages 28-37 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

Based on the training needs of the 1963 intake of craft apprentices at Baker Perkins, an experimental self‐correcting adaptive teaching system was constructed and given preliminary trials with a section of the target population. From the limited data obtained decisions were taken to alter the branching rules slightly but otherwise continue operating the system as originally designed. Various devices for collecting and interpreting information were apparently working well enough to be confident that the system is potentially self‐correcting.
