Educational Television in Zambia

Abstract

This article discusses the growth, development and use of television in Zambia's educational system. It represents information obtained from senior education authorities; broadcasting officials; educational television services; headmasters/headmistresses and teachers of primary and secondary schools, teacher training colleges, adult education centres, and technical institutes. It traces the use of television from the colonial era to present day, discussing its role, organisation, scope and effectiveness.

The author points out some of the difficulties and shortcomings in the use of television as well as recommendations for future use.
