Learning from Film: a Significant Difference Between the Effectiveness of Different Projection Methods

Pages 328-334 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

Interchange of instructional materials between videotape and film assumes that materials will be equally effective in both media. This paper describes a direct comparison between three projection methods (front, rear and CCTV) using material originally designed for CCTV.

Post‐test scores indicate that the amount students learnt varied with the projection method, rear projection being the most effective. The results are discussed in terms of the physical factors involved in viewing and the novelty value of the projection method.
