The Problem of Pacing a Student Learning at Home

Pages 315-319 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

In this paper the learning aspect of distance education is emphasized and the problem of pacing a distance learning student discussed, together with the various methods of pacing available. A certain amount of pacing is necessary in a study package to guide the student into a pattern of learning that will lead to greater success. But if the pacing is too strict it could lead to less flexibility for and detract from the independence of the distance learning student.
