Development of Learning Technology at the European Level: The DELTA Programme

Abstract

In March 1989, 30 new collaborative research projects in the area of learning technology commenced work under the auspices of the European Community's Development of European Learning through Technological Advance (DELTA) programme. The projects constitute the second exploratory phase of DELTA and are funded to a total of some 12 million pounds over a two‐year period. Each project involves organizations from different member states in the EC. This paper gives a brief personal descnption of the DELTA programme. The author is involved in two of the DELTA projects and also assisted the Learning Technology Unit in supporting prospective UK DELTA participants during the proposal writing period in summer 1988.
