Audioconferencing — Just Another Small Group Activity

Pages 244-248 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

Audioconferencing is regularly used in the Open University in Scotland. Students and tutors meet by telephone in order to avoid difficult journeys particularly in the more remote areas. This paper explores similarities and differences between small group activities conducted face‐to‐face and small group activities conducted by telephone. Particular emphasis is given to the skills required to ensure an effective meeting.
