Abstract

The Centre for Teaching Mechanics at Polytechnic South West is interested in the development of new materials and teaching strategies that will interest and motivate sixth‐form students. The use of video, particularly the production of effective new video resources, is one of the main interests of the Centre. Recent research undertaken at the Centre has evaluated existing video resources and formulated a programme model on which future productions can be based. This model has been applied to the production of two mechanics video modules for the School Mathematics Project's new A‐level course. These video modules will now become the subjects of further evaluation which, it is anticipated, will validate the proposed model and allow it to be refined.
