Pages 150-160 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

SUMMARY

The evaluation of the Teaching and Learning Project Scheme at Southampton Institute has been undertaken to look at the effectiveness of a scheme that releases staff for limited periods of time to undertake work that is concerned with teaching and learning. An internal, local evaluation methodology was used which involved questionnaires and structured interview. The evaluation also sets the scheme in context and reflects some of the external influences that affected the operation of the scheme over its three year period. Overall the scheme has had a direct impact on the teaching and learning at the Institute in part because of the efforts made to disseminate internally the outcomes from the scheme's programmes. A more independent comment is made by one of the evaluators who had not been previously involved with the Teaching and Learning Project Scheme.
