Failure cases from recovery boilers

Data regarding damage to recovery boilers in Sweden and Norway has been gathered for several years at AF-IPK. Analysis of the distribution of incidents shows that the nature of the damage varies greatly from year to year; the only perceptible trend is that economizer leaks form an essential part of the reported incidents. Four recent recovery boiler incidents are reported and in each case the causes of the damage and the lessons to be learned to prevent future similar occurrences are discussed.
