Technical safety categorization of constructions

Pages 159-161 | Published online: 05 Nov 2010

For all aspects of construction work, design, quality control, administration, utilization, society demands reasonable safety. A classification of safety in construction into a technical safety category (TSC) is described. Its empirical definition is culled from two fields of knowledge: the application of reliability theory and the limit states method. The usefulness is shown of the generalization of limit states, and the particular relevance of the environmental limit state.
