Law and information technology—An uneasy marriage, or getting along with each other?

Pages 207-216 | Published online: 20 Aug 2006

Abstract

The paper explores the links between law and technological development, the different paces of changes in each and the resulting gaps between them. In the first part, it sketches a complex model of the relationship between law and technology by reference to information technology. In the second part, it examines the structural effects of information technology on the legal rules that aim to regulate this area. The paper concludes by calling for more work towards establishing a coherent theory of information law.
