Abstract
The paper presents a review of several large-scale leisure research agendas from selected English speaking countries of the world. These agendas have been developed to provide direction and priorities for research, as well as for purposes of promotion, funding and research dissemination. The review begins at the institutional and agency level, moving to regional, national and international agendas. Comparative evaluations are made among the research agendas, particularly with regard to the utility of these for applied and management purposes. A proposition is advanced for large-scale agendas to be kept within the scope and funding base of the organizations responsible for their development.
