Abstract
This paper introduces the context for, and preliminary findings of, a piece of research into aspects of the science curriculum in PRU's. It details the main instrument used to gather information, a questionnaire, and outlines some of the early findings of some of the questions.
This is believed to be the only full national survey (that was piloted locally), to examine the current state of the science curriculum of PRU's. Full analysis and evaluation will not be completed until the late spring 1997, but there is already some interesting and important data which may indicate a general ‘flavour’ of the present position of science in a PRU context as well as the constraints operating on that aspect of the curriculum and the attitudes of the teachers involved in its delivery.
