REFLECTIONS UPON A JOURNEY: A TEACHER'S PERSONAL STORY OF LIFE AND WORK WITH A DISTURBED ADOLESCENT

Pages 30-34 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

This paper is a brief and personal account of a teacher's continuous relationship with an orphaned girl with no living relatives. This girl was to all intents and purposes abandoned with no one prepared to care for her. The narrative describes the way in which the relationship between the author and the girl developed into what appears to be a lifelong commitment. The paper deals with some of the difficulties and dangers involved in forging such a commitment.
