Abstract

Two alternative possibilities were established a) S-inoculation (0.002–0.04%S addition) of 0.015–0.03% Mgres treated irons, depending on wall thickness and mould type; b) Heredity phenomenon (Genetic Engineering of alloy) capitalization: 0.005–0.010% Mgres obtained in the MIG treated iron melt; MIG=iron grits (shots), rapid quenched (up to 5.104 °C/sec), which contain up to 100,000 graphite particles/mm2 (mainly less than 1.0 μm diameter) and active elements (Mg, Ce, Ca).
