Comments on the definition of ferromagnetic domain wall width

Pages 401-406 | Received 26 Jun 1978, Accepted 15 Aug 1978, Published online: 01 Dec 2006

Abstract

Conventional definitions of ferromagnetic-domain-wall width are unsatisfactory because they give markedly different values for cases in which domain-wall energies are similar, or in which experimentally determined magnetization configurations are similar. A new definition is suggested which gives more reproducible values, and in some cases is easier to evaluate.
