Abstract
Previous investigations of the influence of substituting 16O by 18O on the temperature of the metal–insulator transition in transition-metal oxides have been extended to V6O13, V4O7, and Fe3O4. By means of a new preparation method, which is briefly described, samples with increased content of 18O have been obtained. In all cases an increase of the transition temperature has been observed. This result is discussed with reference to recent theoretical work on the problem.
