Abstract
The incoherent (Compton) scattering in the amorphous alloy Ca60Al40 has been measured over the range 0·4 to 1·3 Å−1 in sin θ/Λ using Mo Kα radiation. The elastically scattered intensity and tabulated atomic scattering factors were used to establish the scale. The observed Compton intensities were lower than values calculated on the basis of the Waller—Hartree formalism and by the impulse approximation, the discrepancies ranging from 2·5% to about 10%.
