Abstract
A survey is given of different kinds of metal-insulator transition, with particular reference to doped semiconductors. The roles of the Hubbard U and of disorder are discussed. A minimum metallic conductivity is observed if the transition is induced by a strong enough magnetic field, but not otherwise.
