Abstract
The electron state of metallic V7O13 is studied by means of the intensity analysis of electron diffraction. Diffraction intensities of systematic 00/ reflections from lattice planes parallel to the crystallographic shear plane have been obtained under the axial-beam illumination condition and are compared with calculated intensities based on several structure models with different electron states and also on different atomic scattering factors. It is concluded that the electron state is almost neutral as a result of the metallic or covalent nature of bonding between vanadium or vanadium-oxygen atoms.
